Why isothermal amplification

RAA employs recombinase of bacterial and fungal origin to open double-stranded DNA at constant temperature — no denaturation cycles, no ramping, no thermocycler. What remains is a chemistry simple enough for the field and fast enough for the dock.

i.Two-step workflow

Add sample, start the reaction. Operators outside the molecular laboratory run it after minimal training.

ii.Results in 5–15 minutes

Conventional PCR protocols occupy 1.5–3 hours of instrument time; RAA completes within a coffee break.

iii.One constant temperature

30–42 °C throughout. A heat block — or the palm-sized detector — replaces the thermocycler entirely.

iv.Field-deployable

Compact instrumentation and simple power requirements bring molecular testing to farms, ports and receiving docks.

v.Two readout formats

Real-time fluorescence for the laboratory; lateral-flow strips where no instrument is available.
